The Future Role of the Library Profesional in Technical Services
With many technical procedures and standardized and automated and with original cataloging largely centralized at the National Library and other large research libraries. there has been much concern as to whether is indeed a future for the professional in technical services, and if so, what future? Among the challenges are the changing information demand of the users, technological advancement, the revolution of the function, introduction of the new services, the development of the digital library and so forth.

Technology has changed how the information is organized, obtained, and the process of changing technical services and the role of librarian, but technology does not work in the vacuum. Technical services professionals, as information experts, must provide the intellectual framework in which the information transfer takes place and help build the systems that will support that framework. This is indeed a vital role to play by the librarians in the next millenium
